Romance author duo Anna Gomez and Kristoffer Polaha appeared on screen in Times Square, Midtown Manhattan this week, high above the ground on the Nasdaq MarketSite tower. They were seen along with the book covers of their new hit series, From Kona with Love. Book one, Moments Like This, debuted in March 2021, and book two, Where the Sun Rises, is coming March 29, 2022, from Vesuvian Media’s Rosewind Books.

With the popularity of Moments Like This (read our review here), Where the Sun Rises has become a highly anticipated follow-up, depicting multicultural romance, love, loss and redemption woven into a family saga set in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Though connected, each installment in the From Kona with Love series can be read as a standalone. The series falls into the genre of clean romance and is best known for its lush island backdrops. Says Publisher’s Weekly of the first installment, “Gomez and Polaha’s descriptions of Hawaii are postcard-worthy. The breezy pace and gorgeous setting will stoke readers’ wanderlust.”

Where the Sun Rises promises to whisk readers away to the idyllic island of Kauai. Protagonists Maele Moana and Adam Yates meet at the wedding of Maele’s friend Andie, where they are paired up in the wedding party to walk down the aisle together. Their worlds couldn’t be more different; Maele is the daughter of a plantation worker, and Adam is the son of one of the richest men in Oahu. They do have one thing in common, though: big dreams. Dreams that will take them to two opposite shores. But that’s not the only obstacle they must overcome.

Adam inspires Maele to face her fears, and she restores his faith in redemption. Yet with love comes sacrifice, and the goals they’ve worked so hard for may end up tearing them apart. Ultimately, Where the Sun Rises is a story about overcoming adversity, the promise of young love, and the valor in letting go.
