“Yes, I know the title can seem a little shocking or salacious,” says Karin Freeland, author of The Ins and Outs of My Vagina: A Penetrating Memoir. While this tell-all doesn’t hold back in the least, it’s about much more than Freeland or her partner-in-crime V (her vagina, which becomes a character all her own in the book). It’s “about the journey to womanhood.”
BookTrib team member Barbara Wilkov, who equates reading the memoir to reading someone’s diary, sat down for some “girl talk” with the author. In addition to highly entertaining tales, Freeland expressed that she hopes that, by sharing stories about her relationship with her own body and womanhood, other women will feel empowered to discuss similar — sometimes embarrassing but totally normal — experiences.
