It probably isn’t an exaggeration to state that we have all, at some point in our lives, felt lost, inauthentic, and adrift in a sea of uncertainty. Confidence is key, self-esteem is the goal, and “just be yourself!” is all well and good but often seems infinitely out of reach. Enter Bond. No, not James Bond; this is a hero of a different kind. Her name is Donna Bond, and she’s here to help you find the truth you seek from within, not without, because according to her research and advice you are never without wisdom simply by merit of being alive.

The author of Original Wisdom: Harness the Power of the Authentic You and creator of multiple courses to help you rediscover your true self has years of experience and practical study to support her language of empowerment. Her story is gentle and encouraging, yet firm enough to hit hard and hit home. We were able to ask her more about the backstory behind her book, a few difficult-to-dissect areas of self-improvement, and the direction she plans to take her work in the near future. Q: What is Spiritual Psychology and how did you come to be a professional practitioner of it?

A: Spiritual Psychology is an empowering conversational modality. It shows us how to use everyday life experiences as opportunities to evolve into our next level of potential. This is done by integrating your soul’s wisdom into every aspect of your life on all levels of your consciousness (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual). It occurs through a process of dissolving the blocks that camouflage your true nature to reveal your authentic self.

I became a practitioner of this when, on the advice of a psychic, I enrolled myself in a master’s program on Spiritual Psychology at the University of Santa Monica, and it completely transformed my life from the inside out.

Q: What does it mean to be authentic? How will we know when we’ve arrived at who we truly are?

A: It’s not so much an “arrival” to get to who we truly are, but more of a remembering. We remember by getting beneath all the patterned conditioning. There is the part of us made up of all of the influences and conditioning in our life passed along by our parents, teachers, society, governments, religion, etc. Then there is the un-conditioned part of us. This is the part of us that was made by creation itself, the “authentic self,” the true essence of every living being composed of an inherent intelligence that is rooted in love, which is our original wisdom. To realize our wholeness, we integrate both of these parts. In doing so, we bring forward our authentic self.

Q: In your work as a coach, what was the most profound personal transformation you’ve seen?

A: I’ve served hundreds of clients across the globe, and they have experienced positive results in their lives within the physical world. For example, Tina raised her income by 20 percent, Lisa wrote and published her first book, and Jolene found the courage and the tenacity to launch her first album. But most importantly, these women (and my other clients, too) have experienced profound shifts in their inner worlds. They’ve found more peace, calmness, inspiration, clarity, aliveness and confidence, and they now consistently and more fully integrate their soul essence their original wisdomwhere it really matters in their lives.

Q: What do you think is the most challenging obstacle to being truly happy and connected?

A: Lack of presence. What I mean by this is, as a humanity, we are always striving to be better, to be “over there,” to be achieving, pushing and reaching. We then wrong ourselves when we fall short of our own expectations instead of being just right here. When we can bring our full presence and attention to what is right here and now, or when we can ask, “what is the miracle being shown to me in this moment?” or “What can I learn from this situation I am in, even though I don’t prefer it?” Then we are able to come into cooperation with life and with ourselves. We can drop the resistance and begin to open our hearts and minds to the life, people and experiences that are right in front of us.

Q: Do you have any new projects going? Can you tell us what your plans are for the future?

A: I am currently developing a group coaching program called “Original Wisdom – The Masterwork.” This will be an intimate group coaching journey (part online and part in person) where we will use the ideas and practices set forth in Original Wisdom: Harness the Power of the Authentic You and in a group coaching setting we will do the inner work to reveal more of our Original Wisdom. I expect this will be launching in the fall. I am also designing a retreat to be held in Costa Rica. More information can be found on my website.
