My Life’s Lessons: Epiphanies and Revelations by Michelle León

What's It About?

"Life lessons that have taught me how to heal, grow and create a warm, loving environment for others."

The best advice is not always supplied by counselors, therapists, seasoned professionals or talking heads. Sometimes it comes from the most common of places — and when it does, it often is the most relatable.

Michelle León is not trained in dispensing information — of the heart, soul or body. She loves living on Long Island, NY, and she loves her career as a real estate salesperson. She is comfortable in her own skin — so much so, in fact, that she has decided to share some of her life observations reinforcing gratitude and positive thinking in her new book, My Life’s Lessons: Epiphanies and Revelations.

Readers won’t be bogged down with theories, complex explanations or far-fetched remedies for what ails them. The work, a short one that can easily be read in one sitting but that lends itself to regular rereading for peace and comfort, expresses Leon’s feelings about love, integrity, healing, faith, trust, gratitude, peace and happiness. It offers little into Leon’s own life, but clearly her personal experiences have led her to basic observations and insights that have resulted in her well-being.

“The purpose of this book is to enlighten, inspire and motivate others,” she writes. “Our mindset determines the life that we have. Having positive thoughts and feelings about ourselves and others will lead to a happy and fulfilled life. Being grateful for what we have at the present leads to fulfillment. We have so much to be grateful for, we must take time out of our busy schedules to reflect, meditate, and figure out what truly motivates us and inspires us. We are in control of our happiness and the life that we live.”

Gratitude Over Perfection

She opens with thoughts about love, noting the importance of self-love before one can hope to love others. Love, she says, is not about tangible possessions. “It’s not the size of our house but the love that’s created there.”

Leon encourages people to “be a breath of fresh air in a polluted world,” adding that one never realizes how much a simple act of kindness can have such an impact on others. She adds that such acts should not be issued with any expectations — any such expectations usually will result in disappointment.

Gratitude is a big part of the equation for the author. “I try to be mindful of all the blessings I have. My life isn’t perfect, but I am thankful for the family and friends that love me, and I love as well.”

She writes, “Our purpose in life is to learn, love and give. And live simply.”

Living simply, and writing simply — that is the style, and the beauty, of Michelle Leon’s My Life Lessons: Epiphanies and Revelations. Her commentary is there for the taking — with no expectations and no refunds. In a straightforward, relatable way, Leon’s words, simply put, provide inspiration and hope for those seeking it.

She invites readers to enjoy the journey and focus on the present. “Live in the moment — everything else is irrelevant. Make right now amazing.”

Born and raised as a New Yorker, by Michelle León grew up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and moved to Long Island when she was a child. Seven years ago, she got her real estate license and has been hooked ever since. In her free time, she roams around many favorite parks. Long Island sunsets are the best. Her love for science and wellness led to a bachelor’s degree in science from Queens College, with a major in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition. She enjoys writing, photography and getting involved in charitable causes. She organized her own coat, blanket, and food drive for the homeless, “Blankets of Love.” She is grateful for the relationships, opportunities, and life that she has, and she most enjoys connecting with others.
