Hello, booklovers! We’re already deep into November 2022, and the book news is still coming in strong. In this brand-new installment of The Pulse we have quite a bit of bookish news you want to know. And oh, do we have some great stuff to report this weekend! So, let’s not dilly-dally any longer. It’s time to dive right into this week’s The Pulse.

NEWS FROM THE BOOK WORLD

Hannah Pick-Goslar, Anne Frank’s close friend and a Holocaust survivor who died last week, will have her memoir published posthumously in 2023. My Friend Anne Frank will be published by Little, Brown Spark.

In books-to-screen news, we have some brilliant news to share! Deadline reported that Lin-Manuel Miranda has joined the cast of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the upcoming Disney+ series based on Rick Riordan’s popular series of children’s fantasy novels. Eeep! But wait, there’s more Percy Jackson news: The Disney+ series, which is scheduled to air in 2024, stars Walker Scobell, Leah Jeffries and Aryan Simhadri. Hollywood Reporter announced that Australian actor Jacob Elordi is set to play the lead role in a limited-series adaptation of Richard Flanagan’s novel The Narrow Road to the Deep North. In other news, it was reported from Bookseller.com that WildBrain, an independent entertainment company, has optioned Cressida Cowell’s Which Way to Anywhere and her Emily Brown picture books for screen adaptation!

AWARDS AND ACCOLADES WORTHY OF NOTE

A big round of applause goes to Suzette Mayr who won the 2022 Scotiabank Giller Prize for her novel The Sleeping Car Porter! Furthermore, Heartstopper by Alice Oseman has won the Readers’ Choice prize at the Books Are My Bag Readers Awards. The writer also won the Breakthrough Author award. Congratulations!
