NEWS FROM THE BOOK WORLD

First off, take a deep breath and sit down … Are you sitting? Guess what, Percy Jackson fans? We can expect a new book in the super popular middle-grade fantasy series — Percy Jackson and the Olympians — by Rick Riordan in 2023, titled The Chalice of the Gods. What’s more, Disney+ is adapting the series into a show, too! The Chalice of the Gods is slated for a September 26, 2023 release, so we’re going to have to wait a while for a continuation of our favorite characters’ adventures.

Oh, we’re not done yet, readers. Jennette McCurdy’s hit-memoir, I’m Glad My Mom Died, was just the beginning … According to news, McCurdy signed a seven-figure deal for her next two (yes, two) books with her publisher, Ballantine. One of those books will be her debut novel. Now, there’s no telling what genre this book will be in, but we’ve got our money on McCurdy venturing into thrillers à la Gillian Flynn.

Here’s some exciting news for fans of the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Crown, an imprint of Random House, will be publishing a collection of his war speeches on December 6 in a book titled A Message from Ukraine. The book will include 16 of Zelenskyy’s speeches as well as an introduction written by the politician. That’s not the only news for Ukrainian literature, though. According to reports from the UK, Keira Knightley will narrate the audio version of You Don’t Know What War Is, a diary by 12-year-old Ukrainian schoolgirl Yeva Skalietska, which is to be published this autumn by Bloomsbury!

2022 seems to be going great for author Celeste Ng. The popular author of the recently released, Our Missing Hearts, will be The American Booksellers Association’s inaugural ambassador and will represent its new Indie Bookstore Ambassador Program, which will promote indie bookstores year-round. Congratulations, Celeste!
