Hello, book lovers, and happy World Book Day! What better way to promote reading than by sharing our favorite titles with fellow readers? Luckily for all the bibliophiles out there between much-anticipated new releases from beloved writers, like Emily St. John Mandel and David Baldacci, and intriguing literary debuts from celebrity voices, like Jennifer Grey and Janelle Monáe the world’s metaphorical bookshelf keeps on growing. Would we have it any other way? Besides, it’s that very enthusiasm for stories that leads to exciting projects like Sherlock Holmes’ forthcoming stage adaptation. But, without further ado, enjoy this mix of stories from the book world.

Sea of Tranquility by Emily St. John Mandel: “A thrilling, wistful and memorable journey into the stars,” this amazing sixth novel from award-winning author Mandel sees a time traveler set out to solve a mystery across time and space.

Dream Town by David Baldacci: Along for a ride in this PI’s 1939 Delahaye convertible, “Baldacci keeps piling on the tension until the last chapters, when Archer finally pieces together the shocking puzzle of [an esteemed screenwriter’s] disappearance and the decadence that is Hollywood.”

Kingdom of Bones by James Rollins: Entry 16 in Rollins’ bestselling Sigma Force series, this adventure gives the phrase “it’s gone viral” a whole new meaning with “a turbo-charged and action-packed tale of survival — a thriller on steroids.”

The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn: Readers won’t soon forget this bookworm turned lethal sniper! “Quinn manages to give her readers something that’s both engaging because it’s well written and exciting because it’s grounded in truth.”

With Tony and Olivier Award-winner Rob Ashford set to direct, “the new Sherlock Holmes play is described as an original tale offering a ‘deeply theatrical exploration of the mind of the famous detective,’ while remaining faithful to the world created by Conan Doyle.” — Deadline

HBO Max Will Adapt Neil Gaiman’s Dead Boy Detectives: Boasting “a pretty stellar lineup of creators …[including] Steve Yockey (co-showrunner of The Flight Attendant), Jeremy Carver (creator of Doom Patrol), and Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Productions,” it’s no wonder that Gaiman himself took to Twitter to note “I’ve seen the pilot and it’s really, really good.” — Tor.com

Hillary Clinton to Speak at Annual Hay Festival: “The former US senator will be in conversation with lawyer Helena Kennedy on 2 June as part of the literary festival’s Women & Power series.” (Read BookTrib’s review of Clinton’s thriller debut, State of Terror.) — The Guardian

George Harrison’s Widow to Publish Poetry in Late Musician’s Honor: Came the Lightening will include 20 original poems written by Olivia Harrison in addition to “collected mementos and never-before-seen photographs.” — American Songwriter

Dick Award; Andrea Elliott’s Invisible Child: Poverty, Survival & Hope in an American City wins the Gotham Book Prize as well as The New York Public Library’s 2022 Helen Bernstein Award for Excellence in Journalism; Dawnie Walton’s The Final Revival of Opal & Nev wins the Aspen Words Literary Prize; Xiran Jay Zhao’s Iron Widow named among five BSFA Awards winners; and finalists have been announced for the IGNYTE Awards, the Griffin Poetry Prize, the Kobo Emerging Writer Prize, the BookLife Prize Nonfiction Contest, and the Sir Julius Vogel Awards.
