You know it’s the pinnacle of summer in East Hampton when Authors Night finally hits.
Every August, the East Hampton Library sets up its iconic white tent for its annual Author’s Night Benefit. Known as the premier literary event of the summer, this hotly anticipated event has grown over the years to become one of the most successful celebrations of books and authors in America. Whether you’re a seasonal Hamptonite or an armchair literary enthusiast, here’s what you can look forward to.
For the foodies, you’ll be able to spot plenty of cookbooks and culinary guides from well-known tastemakers like Florence Fabricant, Jenn Lueke and Sabrina Rudin. For those who love an author with some entrepreneurial flair, look out for Bobbi Brown and her upcoming tell-all memoir or Amy DuBois Barnett, whose new romantic fiction is set in the fashion magazine world.
Those are far from the only star authors who are sure to be there. Literary luminaries like Don Lemon, Robert Caro, Jay McInerney, Xochitl Gonzalez, John Searles, Chris Pavone and Amy Chozick will all be in attendance, so you’d better keep an eye out! I know I’m looking forward to a night of sparkling conversation with whoever I run into, plus plenty of new book recs to return home with.
