How To Get A Fully Funded Scholarship To Study Abroad? by Lidiia Voevodina

What's It About?

Lidiia Voevodina is well educated — anyone viewing her credentials will quickly see that. What they may not see is that her education was fully funded by scholarships. In fact, to say she has become an expert in the process of getting scholarships is not a stretch.

Lidiia Voevodina is well educated — anyone viewing her credentials will quickly see that. What they may not see is that her education was fully funded by scholarships. In fact, to say she has become an expert in the process of getting scholarships is not a stretch.

Now, she has literally written the book on the topic: How to Get a Fully-Funded Scholarship to Study Abroad.

The author’s personal story of how her education came about is intriguing, and as much a part of this book as the information and guidance she provides to students on how to apply independently for graduate studies abroad and get a full scholarship.

SHE RECEIVED HER FIRST SCHOLARSHIP AT AGE 16

Lidiia grew up in a city in the southern part of Russia. When she was 10, she heard an English-speaking couple in a local market. She followed the couple around the market, fascinated to hear their words. It was at that point she made the declarative statement to her mother that she would study English, make it her life’s profession, and that she would live in the United States.

Lidiia received her first scholarship at the age of 16. She would go on to earn a five-year, fully funded scholarship for her bachelor’s degree in linguistics and then $110,000 to pursue a master’s program in the field of public policy and management at the University of Brunei Darussalam and the McCourt School of Georgetown University.

Voevodina tries to dispel the myth that only the very smartest students can qualify for full scholarships. “Every person in the world has access to an international education, and you do not need to be a genius to get a fully funded scholarship to study abroad,” she says. “Yet to realize this idea of getting a full-ride scholarship, you must at least have a strong desire to put the effort into achieving this aim.”

YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A GENIUS TO GET A FULLY-FUNDED SCHOLARSHIP

While the book follows Voevodina’s tale and defines terms and procedures, it serves as a valuable guide for self-admission covering but is limited to the following topics: how to find an appropriate program, where to look, how to prepare for admission with the necessary supporting documents, how to write a “motivation” letter, what your academic records should look like, what letters of recommendation are required and more.

While she notes that different countries and different universities have their own specific requirements, there are some universal characteristics that all candidates should be aware of, such as academic grades, standardized test results, customized recommendation letters and extracurricular activities.

No matter what your specific interests, your background or credentials may be, this book is designed to serve all potential candidates in their quest for education and funding abroad.

“I will help you become the ideal candidate,” she writes, “overcoming the obstacles preventing you from studying wherever you want.”
