Distressed? Anguished? Heal Your BMind by Jacob Gonik
Recently, focus on mental health and awareness of the various ways it breaks down have become a touchstone issue, especially after the year we’ve had and the uncertainty of what is to come. Add to that the general stresses of life, fears, anxiety, past traumas, existing depression … the list goes on. Many therapies take years to undergo and progress can be slow. What if you could find healing faster?
Jacob Gonik, author of Distressed? Anguished? Heal Your Bmind, has been successfully treating people with anxiety, stress, fears, traumatic obesity, depression and other mental disorders in an average of just ten sessions for over 30 years thanks to his “Heal Your Bmind” concept.
But what on earth is your Bmind? Jacob Gonik says that we have two “minds” … the Bmind manages behavior, habits, emotions and disorders while the Imind manages our intellect, free will and creativity. This is a new way of understanding how the mind is organized, how it becomes ill, how it affects the body’s health, and how it should be treated.
CREATE LASTING POSITIVE HABITS WITH SELF-ZETA
In his book, Gonik introduces the concept of Self-Zeta. This is a mentalization process that anyone can use at home (or in a therapist’s office) to modify bad habits or create good ones. It can also be used to control stress, anxiety, insomnia, fears, etc. It is a state that you put your mind into so that you can access the Bmind that typically likes to keep things hidden away. This is where the problems lie, and this is the best way to discover them and start to heal them.
The Bmind, according to the author, works like an app on your phone or computer. It stores memories, emotions and traumas. Nothing can be erased from the Bmind, but these memories and traumas can be reprogrammed so that they no longer cause distress. Using Zeta-Bmind (getting into the relaxing Zeta state to access your Bmind) can be added to any therapy program, so this is a great book to share with your therapist as well, if you have one.
Many traumatic secrets and emotions are hidden in the Bmind. A mind in Zeta can open up its secret programs so they can be changed. This treatment can speed up the healing process.
The Bmind is also the mind’s immune system, and the book discusses how closely the mind is connected to our physical well-being (including our resistance to disease) and vice versa.
The author illustrates his concepts and therapeutic treatment by using many real-life case studies. Reading other people’s situations helped me readily compare them to my own, which was very helpful in understanding the concepts presented in the book.
A TOPIC FOR EVERY READER
Just a few of the other topics in this book include:
- A framework of steps to treat an ill Bmind
- The Basal-System and its four positive pillars — Faith, Self-Esteem, Self-Confidence, Activation — and how the healing of any trauma highly depends on their quality
- How the Collective-Bmind can fix broken relationships
- How parents can use ZETA-Bmind concepts in education
There are 67 topics in all, and the book ends with a summary of each, which is great for a refresher whenever you need it. It is all fascinating information, and Gonik includes many tools to put the concepts into practice. I have started to use some of it myself, especially the Seven Rules to Create Positive Programs, which includes being concrete in your self-talk; avoiding “sick” words like ill, anxious, nervous; and avoiding negative phrases that start with “I.”
Distressed? Anguished? Healing Your Bmind is an essential guidebook to healing what ails you. Certainly worth a try if you, like so many others, are feeling the effects of this stressful time in history.
