Fierce Kingdom Gin PhillipsIn 2013, Sean Tuohy met Daniel Ford at a Halloween party and they immediately hit it off. The podcast wasn’t born on that exact night, but they were able to discuss some of their favorite things like writing, screenwriting, books, movies, comedy, and comic books. They put their heads together and came up with some of their favorite names, some of which included “2 Gentleman Writers” and “Hemingway’s Love Children,” eventually settling on Writer’s Bone – and we are so glad that they did! Daniel and Sean feel that they are in the middle of something very big and wonderful, featuring new author interviews, fiction pieces, and Boneyard discussions along the way. BookTrib.com met Sean and Daniel recently and invited them to share Writer’s Bone with our readers.

Gin Phillips, author of Come in and Cover Me, The Well and the Mine, and the recently published Fierce Kingdom, talks to Daniel Ford about the books that inspired her to become a writer, her ideal writing time, and focusing on the mother-child relationship in her latest novel.

Quotes from this episode:

“I can’t remember a time I was not writing.”

“As soon as I could old a pen, I was jotting down little cartoons, terrible poems, and short stories.”

“Did adults know what V.C. Andrews was all about?”

“Coffee is almost always involved.”

“I love a good deadline. I love meeting them. I love having them.”

“Learn how to tighten your writing.”

“All writers are great thieves, aren’t they?”

“Make yourself write. I find inspiration highly overrated.”

“Being a writer is a great job. People pay you to make stuff up.”
