HEAD SHOT
By Otho Eskin
This one’s perfect for fans of David Baldacci and Daniel Silva!
Washington, D.C. homicide detective Marko Zorn is investigating the murder of an actress — an old love — when he is assigned to protect the visiting prime minister of Montenegro, the beautiful Nina Voychek. Political enemies are planning her assassination, but now it’s apparent that he, too, is a target. As he foils the initial attempts on his life, he pulls out all the stops.
Decoded messages, Supermax prisoner interviews, mafia lawyers and an ancient Black Mountain curse swirl among the icons of D.C. as Marko and his young partner, Lucy, face down what may be multiple assassins with diverging agendas. Or are they facing one assassin, the deadliest and most elusive on the international stage? The novels in the Marko Zorn Thriller Series stand on their own and can be read in any order. This book is the second installment in the saga that began with The Reflecting Pool.

LAST STOP ON THE 6
By Patricia Dunn
Set against the backdrop of the Gulf War and the millions of people who filled the streets in protest (reminiscent of today’s activism), Last Stop on the 6 is a hilarious, subversive and deeply moving tale.
Angela Campanosi fled her home in the Italian American enclave of Pelham Bay, the Bronx, after an accident left her brother, up-and-coming actor Jimmy, paralyzed. Now, a decade later and on the eve of Jimmy’s wedding, anti-war activist Angela returns home from LA to grapple with the guilt, secrets and idiosyncrasies that make a family, well, a family. What could possibly go wrong? For starters, the groom has disappeared …
Angela embarks on a search for Jimmy through the old neighborhood, discovering in the process that our perceptions about people — even ourselves — can be wrong, and that family is something far more potent than blood.

THE INS AND OUTS OF MY VAGINA: A PENETRATING MEMOIR
By Karin Freeland
The sexy, the funny, the humiliating, the gross and a whole lot more!
Karin Freeland: a wife, mother of two and business-professional-turned-life-coach. Why would she ever decide to write The Ins and Outs of My Vagina: A Penetrating Memoir? As she explains, her story is “about growing up and floundering through puberty, learning to experiment sexually, accepting your body, finding love and creating life and trying your damnedest to have an orgasm before you reach fifty.”
Pubic hair. Ovarian cysts. Yeast infections. First period. Roast beef lips. Strange secretions. Burning genitalia. Frat-boy fiascoes. Brazilian wax. Torn labia. The Big O. For Karin, lady parts are a total mystery, and she doesn’t understand why no one ever talks about them or explains the real pleasures and pitfalls of a woman’s journey. To get through her trials and tribulations, she forms a fragile relationship with V, her vagina, who may or may not have her best interests at heart.
THE AUTHOR
After years in high-pressure leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies, Karin Freeland traded the boardroom for the bedroom. She hopes her book, The Ins and Outs of My Vagina: A Penetrating Memoir, will relate to women of all ages. THE ROAD REMEMBERED
By Kaye D. Schmitz
Love and humanity triumph amid the atrocities of World War II in this novel inspired by true stories. In the final months of war, Sam Ryan takes his place as a new soldier in the 89th Infantry Division on the front lines in Europe. He’s trained to kill but struggles with the thought of taking the life of another human being. How, he wonders, will he ever reconcile the action his head dictates with the way his heart feels about it?
On the other side of the war, Gerda Ziegler’s heart aches over the monster her beloved Germany has become. She confronts the Nazi soldiers who guard the Jewish-only sector in Zwickau and is appalled to learn that a Jewish baby will be killed because of a large birthmark. Can she manage to whisk the child away right under the noses of Nazis?
Sam and Gerda meet under the worst of circumstances but find a way to help each other through the trauma of war.

THE CARDIFF GIANT
By Larry Lockridge
The Cardiff Giant, set in Cooperstown, New York, has Puck’s profound declaration, “Lord, what fools these mortals be!” up its novelistic sleeve. Jack Thrasher, investigative reporter, arrives to look into the weird disappearance of a huge human figure from the Farmers’ Museum that had been unearthed in the late nineteenth century near Cardiff, New York. Jack confronts locals and outsiders who all have a theory, including the giant himself, who has been reanimated and is lurching about the community.
The fast-paced action centers around episodes where they pay a sorry price for their self-punishing beliefs. But skeptics don’t fare much better, susceptible as they are to mental disorders that show how the faculty of reason is fragile indeed. These characters group and regroup, with romance always on their minds, and finally come to recognitions at once surprising and moving.
