A: BookTrib eBook Deals is a weekly sale reaching a potential audience of 250,000+ readers and featuring a list of up to 10 discounted ebooks across assorted genres. The list is sent out weekly on Thursdays to BookTrib’s 15,000+ e-newsletter subscribers, is promoted to BookTrib’s 150,000+ social media followers, and is featured on the BookTrib.com homepage, which gets 90,500+ unique views per month.
Q: What do BookTrib eBook Deals look like?
A: At the heart of the BookTrib eBook Deals program is a landing page that collects the weekly deals into one place. Our social media posts and homepage ad link directly to the current week’s edition, while our e-newsletter sends the entirety of the weekly list to our subscribers. Q: When and where will my book appear in BookTrib eBook Deals?
A: You will be able to choose a date on the sign-up form. The deadline for signing up is midnight (EST) Tuesday of the week the promotion will run.
Each edition of BookTrib eBook Deals is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The first to sign up for a particular date will receive the top slot in the sale, the second to sign up will receive the slot below that, and so on until all slots are filled. As you can imagine, it pays to plan ahead!
Q: How do BookTrib eBook Deals work? Do you sell copies of my ebook? Do you change the selling price on Amazon, etc.?
A: BookTrib eBook Deals promotes a discounted price you have set up at a supported online retailer. We provide links to these retailers; all purchases will be fulfilled through those sites. BookTrib does not change your ebook’s pricing for you; it is your responsibility to ensure your retailer listing(s) are updated to the discounted price during the promotional window. Q: I want to sign up for multiple weeks, or for multiple ebooks. How do I do that?
A: Simply fill out the BookTrib eBook Deals sign-up form again.
Questions About Retailers, Pricing and Scheduling
Q: Which online retailers are supported?
A: BookTrib eBook Deals currently support Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple Books and Google Play Books.
Q: My ebook isn’t up yet on the retailer’s site. What should I enter into the URL field on the sign-up form?
Planning ahead is key, but you will need a URL before you can sign up for the BookTrib eBook Deals program. Consider offering your ebook for preorder, if the publisher and retailer give you that option. The URL for preorder typically remains the same once the ebook is officially available.
Q: How do I change my ebook’s price on Amazon, etc.?
A: If you were the one who initially uploaded your ebook onto the retailer’s website, you should have access to change your pricing. If it was your publisher who uploaded your ebook and you do not have access to your seller account, please contact your publisher. Please remember that there may be a lead time before your price change takes effect on the retailer site, so plan accordingly. Q: I want to give away my ebook for free. Can I do that?
A: Yes! Simply enter $0.00 in the Promotional Price field on the BookTrib eBook Deals sign-up form when prompted.
Q: The sign-up form says, “Promotion price must be $4.99 or less.” Can I sell an ebook for more than $4.99?
A: At the moment, BookTrib eBook Deals only promote ebooks sale-priced at $4.99 or less.
Q: What if my ebook already has a list price of under $4.99? Can I list my ebook without discounting the price?
A: Well, you could simply put the same price into the fields for List Price and Promotional Price on the BookTrib eBook Deals sign-up form, but we don’t recommend it. Our e-newsletter is automatically formatted to indicate that the promotional price is a “SALE!” Consider reducing your price by a small amount instead, perhaps by 10 percent.
Q: The date I want to sign up for isn’t available. What should I do?
A: At present, there are only 10 slots available for each week’s BookTrib eBook Deals. Slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please choose another date, or visit our Promote Your Book page to learn about other BookTrib services that may be available during your promotion window.
Q: How long will the discount price on my ebook be valid?
A: We recommend that your ebook remain on discount for one full week from the start date of its inclusion in BookTrib eBook Deals, but you may run it longer if you wish. Feel free to include this information in the book description field of the BookTrib eBook Deals sign-up form.
Q: I have a limited-time price drop (less than a week) or tiered-price promotion (e.g., Kindle Countdown). What’s the best way to handle these?
You may mention in your book blurb the dates that the price drop is effective (e.g., “Buy it now for $[regular price] or get it for $[sale price] from [date] – [date].”).
If are you opting for a tiered-price promotion over several days, you might want to include in your book blurb something like “Kindle Countdown pricing begins at $[price] on [date]. Don’t delay!”
Other Questions
Q: I don’t know how to change the image size of my ebook’s front cover so that it meets the specified criteria. Please help!
You will need a high-quality image of your ebook cover to participate in the BookTrib eBook Deals program. If your image is too small, it will look blurry or “pixelated” and text on the ebook cover will be hard to read.
Start with the largest image you have and then resize it and convert it to JPG format. Try this free online tool to convert your image from another file format and/or dimensions. Be sure to select JPG as your “destination image format” type and enter 300 in the width field. (If your image is a PDF, convert your file to JPG first using this free online tool, and then resize it.)
Q: I made a mistake while filling out the sign-up form. What should I do?
If you haven’t completed your payment, you can use the Previous and Next buttons on the BookTrib eBook Deals sign-up form to navigate to the page where you made the error, fix it and click Next. Once you have completed your payment, though, you’ll need to contact us at [email protected] to explain the correction you’d like to make.
