Data organization builder and former corporate technology, operations and finance manager at AIG.

About Jamil Hasan

Jamil Hasan is an American author and former technology, operations, finance and database manager at American International Group, Inc. His expertise in creating operational efficiencies, building data intelligence engines and departments, and being a prolific project closer brought him face to face with some of what he defines as unfair corporate governance opportunities that jettisoned many of his Generation X peers from Corporate America, including himself in 2017. Determined to move forward powerfully after his AIG career ended, Jamil entered the blockchain and crypto industry first as an advisor and consultant before embarking upon a new vocation as an author.

Re-Generation X: How Generation X Can Leverage Blockchain Technology to Save Themselves and Rebuild America is Jamil’s newest nonfiction book. He explores the history of Generation X, how Gen Xers fit into the last century economically, some of the challenges facing the generation today, and what Gen Xers can do to restore and rebuild America. His previous book Blockchain Ethics: A Bridge to Abundance was published in 2018 and discusses the opportunities of the cryptocurrency industry.

Your biggest literary influences:

Booker Washington, Upton Sinclair, Alice Walker, George Orwell

Last book read:

Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life: Life-Changing Tools for Healthy Relationships by Marshall B. Rosenberg, PhD

The book that changed your life:

The book that profoundly changed my life is The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists by Neil Strauss. In summer 2006, I had a streak of several years of bad luck and misfortune with dating. A friend recommended this book. After reading it, I created new possibilities for my life. I registered for the Landmark Forum and other Landmark Education courses. One of the new ideas I had for my life was to become successful in dating. Not only did I apply the principles of this book, but I also was mentored by a character in the book. After a few months in the pickup artist community and learning the game, I met my wife. If not for the book, I would not have likely dared to even try to get into the dating scene.

Your favorite literary character:

My favorite literary character is Celie from The Color Purple

I had always struggled growing up with reading, specifically retaining what I had read just one page ago. I was required to take a literature course in college as part of my core curriculum. Failing miserably, our professor introduced us to this novel by Alice Walker and I immediately related to Celie. I identified with her feelings of ugliness and wanting to be silent and invisible as a student at Virginia Tech, but understood how important it was to fight back for a better future for her life.

A few of the lessons I learned from Celie’s character have served as an inspiration for Re-Generation X — fighting for the future, the importance of personal growth and self-discovery, having meaningful relationships instead of being invisible, and developing an empowering context for storytelling.

Currently working on:

I’m currently building my consulting practice and a workbook study guide to accompany Re-Generation X, focusing on several of the core data, finance, governance, operations and technology concepts presented in the book. As for my next book, I’m developing the conceptual framework for a fictional piece about the personal journey of a youth football coach.

Words to live by:

“Life shrinks or expands in direct proportion to one’s courage.” — Anais Nin

The two things you cannot take from me are who I am and what I have done.

Always outcon the con man.
