Based on a true story (originally a screenplay), this is a deeply human, intimate account of a conflicted war time romance between two strangers on the home front amidst anti-Semitism and racism. Proud, small town Jewish girl, Bobbie Feinman travels to Miami Beach and meets Murray, a complex young soldier from Brooklyn whose horrific childhood in Poland during WW1 gives him unique insight into duty and his own mortality. After a hasty decision to marry, they struggle with silences, doubt, misunderstanding, childhood trauma and the uncertainty of war threatening any hope of a future together. They coast along on the quicksand of their hurried vows, until Bobbie, who has decided Murray doesn't really love her and believing he doesn't expect to survive the war, sees some compelling incidents that challenge her perceptions. As Murray leaves on a troop ship for England, she cries for this stranger she calls husband and wonders, what life might be like if.... Epilogue set in 1994.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Deborah Packer is an actress/writer and holds a Bachelors and Master of Arts degree in Speech from the University of Michigan where she received an acting fellowship allowing her to perform with the APA and ACT Rep Companies during their residence in Ann Arbor. She began her professional career in Toronto, later moving to LA working on Stage, TV and film. With a partner, she had a sketch comedy act, writing and performing in clubs in NY and LA. She has written two screenplays, including I'LL REMEMBER YOU which she also novelized. Her experience at the Simon Wiesenthal Center in LA, teaching the Holocaust in their original museum allowed her the opportunity of digging deeply into the anti-Semitic and racial issues of the 30s and 40s in America and how those issues affected her own family. She incorporated these historical references in the telling of this basically true family tale,
