About the Author

Andrew Pyper (1968-2025) was born in Stratford, Ontario, and lived in Toronto. He received a B.A. and M.A. in English Literature from McGill University, as well as a law degree from the University of Toronto. He later went on to teach creative writing at Trent University, the University of Toronto and Colorado College.

Lost Girls (1999), his first novel, was a national bestseller in Canada and garnered acclaim as a notable new release in publications ranging from the Globe and Mail to the New York Times Book Review and the London Evening Standard. The novel also won the Arthur Ellis Award for Best First Novel and went on to be translated into Italian, Dutch, German and Japanese.

Andrew’s works include the International Thriller Writers Award-winning novel, The Demonologist (2013), which became a #1 bestseller in Canada and Brazil, and the Canadian bestseller The Killing Circle (2008), which has since been translated for audiences in Holland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal and Japan.

Many of his novels have been named one of the “best book of the year” in publications such as the Globe and Mail (2011’s The Guardians and 2005’s The Wildfire Season) and The Toronto Star (2002’s The Trade Mission).
