People must work hard and smart if they want to become successful, say Geary Reid. And he is doing everything in his power to help them achieve that objective.

The breadth of his work is remarkable. He has written 104 non-fiction books on topics ranging from academic/professional life, the family, general knowledge and motivation, and Christianity and religion.

Writing has been his passion since his days at school. With 25 years of progressive working experience in retail, education, agriculture, natural resources, manufacturing, insurance and motor industries, he has gained a wealth of experience.

In this recent BookTrib interview, he discusses his background, his work and his desire to support the goals and needs of others.

Q: What inspired you to write over 50 books covering such diverse topics from professional development to religious guidance?

A: Well, I have a diverse academic background and working experience that covers more than three decades with many organizations. Helping people is something I enjoy. Being a licensed minister, to preach and teach God’s word, is another important asset for me. I believe my inspiration came from the creator, working experience, family life, academic background and the love for people.

Q: Can you share your writing process and how you manage to produce content across multiple genres?

A: It begins with identifying a concern which needs to be addressed. Then I move into identifying a suitable title that will capture that concern. Thereafter, I write down possible chapters that will support the book title. Each day, I keep adding more content to whatever book I am writing. In order to complete each book quickly, I only write one book at a time, and I give all of my wisdom to that particular book.

Daily, I will read the newspaper and listen to the news, and will also research the work of other authors and incorporate some of their information in my books.

Q: Your book, Starting a Business: From Idea to Profitability, offers guidance to entrepreneurs. What common pitfalls do startups face, and how can they be avoided?

A: Many startups face numerous challenges. However, two major challenges will include gaining financing for their businesses and not being able to generate enough sales.

In the book, I addressed the issue to seeking finances. There are several options available to most people. Sometimes, financial institutions may not be the easiest option for startups. However, they can use their savings, or seek financing from families, friends, etc.

Maintaining proper financial records may allow startups to get financing from some financial institutions.

Q: In Preparing for Work, you provide advice for career starters. What key piece of advice would you give to someone entering the workforce today?

A: Preparation of professional resumes is an area where some people fail to make an impact on many employers.

Identifying your career path is important, as it will guide you toward your studies and the job opportunities you seek. Once you have an idea where you want to go, give it all of your time and energy.

Each work environment is different. Therefore, those who want to start working must spend time researching about the organizations they want to work for.

Each workplace has its own culture. Therefore, those who want to work with some employers must quickly learn and adopt to the culture of the organization.

Besides having many academic certificates, people must apply themselves to each job. They must learn to work diligently and give their best.

Q: Many of your works focus on Christian and religious themes. How do you balance writing for both secular and religious audiences?

A: Well, my 104 non-fiction books cover many major categories. Here are the major categories and the number of books in each category:

  • Academic/Professional/Business — 36 books.
  • Family Life — 21 books.
  • General Knowledge/Motivation — 12 books.
  • Christian/religion — 35 books.

For the greater part of my life on this beautiful earth, I surrendered my life to the Lord. Since 1986 I was called by God, and on March 14, 1989, I was baptized, and I have served in many religious capacities.

As a believer, I work with several organizations. I also understand, that to be effective in my work life, I had to increase my academic credentials.

Therefore, writing and speaking to Christian and secular people is an easy thing to do, since I interact with those groups on a regular basis. Whenever I have to preach, I would incorporate some academic information in my sermons. At the workplaces, I will pray for those who request prayers. At several of the workplaces, I received approval to share God’s word with the believers, at Bible clubs, when the believers proceed on their lunch breaks.

Q: Among your publications, which ones hold the most personal significance to you, and why?

A: This is one of the most difficult questions, which I have not being able to adequately answer for anyone. Each book is important to me.

When I write each book, it draws from my wisdom and experience, for different situations. For example, a parent will have several children. However, each child may have a different impact upon that parent.

Well, the same is true for Geary Reid. Each of these books was written at different time, and under different situations. Since most of the books were inspired by the creator, it is difficult to take any credit or show personal connection for any of them.

In each book, I include a page of information to show how I am connected to each book. On every occasion, as I write “About the Author” for each book, the information is slightly different, because each book has part of my experience, love, and passion.

Q: What do you hope readers take away from your books?

A: Each reader will be empowered with technical knowledge, wisdom, and hands-on information. The books are simple to read, have many colorful illustrations, and are well structured. For those readers who want to advance their academic journey, I have many books for them. For those who are looking for companions, or want to strengthen their family life, then there are enough books for them also.

In each book, I provide readers with simple and professional information. They can now find answers to many questions in the books I authored. Despite a person’s working experience, academic background or family life, there will be something new that they will find in many of the books.

Each of my books was reviewed by people who are skilled and experienced in the various subject areas, so that they were able to strengthen the content of each book.

Geary Reid’s books are available for purchase on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Bookshop and his website.
