A new company, Hypnovels, has introduced a digital platform designed to capture and retain the attention of today’s distracted audience with a completely unique experience, instantaneously transforming the first chapter of books into a stunning visual animation format.

Hypnovels was developed by Silverside AI, a San Francisco-based AI incubation and innovation lab launched by Emmy-winning US-based advertising agency Pereira O’Dell, and agency network Serviceplan Group in Germany. Silicon Valley executive and Ask Jeeves founder Rob Wrubel serves as Managing Director of Silverside AI.

Hypnovels brings together narration, image and motion in a way that’s less literal than classical animation and more sensorily engaging than an audiobook. At hypnovels.com, readers currently can see single chapters from classic books such as Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and Miguel de Cervantes’ Don Quixote, among others.

BookTrib has agreed to be the first large-scale distribution channel for Hypnovels. Authors can use this new technology to share their Hypnovels with the millions of BookTrib readers, as well as posting them on their social media channels and websites.

BookTrib Founder Meryl Moss sees Hypnovels as a game-changer for promoting books.

“Through the magic of AI, authors and publishers have an entirely new way of attracting and engaging readers to their content,” says Moss. “We are thrilled to be the first to work with Hypnovels to bring this technology to our BookTrib community so they can enjoy an enhanced experience of discovering books, and authors can find a new way to engage with their audiences.”

Hypnovels creator PJ Pereira first experimented with the format during the launch of his novel, The Girl From Wudang, several months ago. To create the narrated animation, he chained together multiple forms of AI and began fine-tuning the process. Leveraging a unique application of AI developed by Silverside AI, Pereira trimmed the process for authors from several weeks to mere hours.

Says Silverside AI’s Wrubel, “Writing a great story is hard enough. Once it’s done, making a Hypnovel is easy – you can make it in four simple steps. Hypnovels’ power is in bringing the immense potential of generative artificial intelligence to authors and creatives worldwide, to help amplify the brilliance and force of their work, reach new audiences, and engage readers everywhere.”

Pereira, an author himself, has created a tool for the modern-day novelist who embraces rather than fears the possibilities of AI. He sees the platform as a format for readers, as well as a future economy for creators, such as writers, publishers, visual artists, musicians, and voice actors.
