Last year at the Oscars, Jimmy Kimmel said Hollywood is running out of content, thus explaining why there are so many remakes of classic films as well as a rash of sequels. People reading this column know better — if Hollywood is looking for fresh content, they need look no further than the world of books. Sounds like Hollywood was listening: This year, five of the 10 nominees for best picture were based on books. And it doesn’t stop there — consider the TV series Shōgun and the upcoming adaption of Tom Wolfe’s A Man in Full, to name just a couple. This year’s honorees are: Antonia Angress, Sirens & Muses; Maya Binyam, Hangman; Zain Khalid, Brother Alive; Tyriek White, We Are a Haunting; and Jenny Tinghui Zhang, Four Treasures of the Sky.


Winners of The Libby Book Awards

The Libby Book Award winners have been announced, making history at the first-annual Libbys ceremony, presented on YouTube by the popular podcast duo, the Professional Book Nerds.
