Cam has completely forgotten Remy, and if she cannot bring his memories back by midnight on New Year’s Eve, they will both be cursed to forget each other. Now on a mission, Remy and Cam begin traveling through Tokyo to regain Cam’s memories, make new ones, and hopefully fall in love all over again.
Enchanting Young Adult Romance
Julie Abe’s Our Cursed Love has me thinking that Julie has a dose of magic herself. Every page is so vivid I could almost see the iconic Japanese sites, taste all the unique foods, and experience falling in love. Abe was able to weave modernity and hidden magic together in such a way it felt completely real. This book has elements of the rom-com 50 First Dates mixed with the whimsical magic of a Studio Ghibli film – which I would never typically put together, but it was so enchanting.
Throughout the story, Remy and Cam’s struggles are laid bare for us and we can’t help but root for their happily ever after! Their chemistry leaps off the page while their feeling of longing for each other is palpable as they try to break this generations-old curse that binds them.
