Asim, right hand to Anubis, helps run a secret council hidden within an ancient temple in Egypt that oversees the protection of humanity. From the shadows, these ancient beings maintain the delicate balance between humans and the supernatural, dealing out Anubis’s justice whenever needed.
When multiple human women show up dead in the deserts of California, the council takes notice, and Asim and his colleagues are sent to investigate the pack of werewolves responsible. But when he shows up, the last thing Asim expected to find was a poor young she-wolf tied up helplessly in the cruel alpha’s bedroom. He’s even more shocked to discover she’s his lost mate reincarnated!

Summer Sky Mondragon, the daughter of the most powerful alpha in the United States, has felt an overwhelming feeling of loss her entire life, a feeling that left her isolated from her family and led her to connect with three friends — Yazmin, Ezzy and Clayton — who feel the same way. Anubis gives the four a choice: return to their positions on the council and leave everyone they know in this life behind, or return to their new lives and lose all memory of the council and their pasts. Asim can’t stand to see Summer go, but can she really leave her family behind for good?
But that’s only the beginning of their problems. Anubis soon reveals that the council members’ reincarnations are the first of five prophecies slowly unraveling quicker and quicker. If they can’t stop the last prophecy from being fulfilled, then magic and supernatural creatures will cease to exist within the Earth realm.
Tender & Passionate Shifter Romance
There’s still more to tell, as I’ve only scratched the surface of this story!
Asim and Summer aren’t the only fated mates, and the author allows each couple an ample amount of page-time. Readers get an in-depth look into each budding relationship, as well as the lives of each character, each boasting their own tragic backstories and distinct personalities.
Readers can expect some spice, but not overwhelming amounts, as the story is definitely more heavily focused on the thrilling plot and romance. The romance is tense and tender — and where there is spice, it’s steamy and passionate.
As with many shifter romances, you’ll find some powerful yet gentle alphas in this book, those that could easily and happily destroy anyone who harms their mate. I was an adamant fan of Zagan in particular, and enjoyed seeing Clayton’s conflicting personalities when it came to his newly rediscovered mate.
Fans of supernatural romance won’t want to miss The Anubis Chronicles, and will be left foaming at the mouth for Y.G. Zaher’s next novel.
