Inside the Grey by Bobbi Groover

What's It About?

A Civil War era romance between Brayden, a brooding frontman on a mission, and Kawley, a feisty woman in disguise and on the run.

We all know and love the classic tale of Gone with the Wind because of its glamorous view of the South during the Civil War and the headstrong, feisty heroine. The story of Scarlet and Rhett has stood the test of time, but for decades, readers have craved a happy ending.

Bobbi Groover’s Inside the Grey (Satin Romance) is just the thing to satiate this desire – a Civil War romance with complex plots and leading characters who are willing to do anything for love.

Romance, Action & Adventure

Two men have been thrust together by a common goal: to save their loved ones. Brayden and Kawley begin a tumultuous adventure by tracking Northern Raiders that have captured their best friend and brother. Little does Brayden know, his traveling companion has secrets of their own: Kawley is a woman that has disguised herself as a man, Mulan style! Brayden has promised to keep his companion’s secret, but Kawley can’t let her guard down, even for a second, while she’s on the run hiding from her abusive fiancé.

As their adventure continues, they begin to trust one another, and their bond grows. But can the shaky foundation of newfound trust withstand the constant pressure of danger? Brayden and Kawley have their own demons to overcome and are working together in love and strength to save the future of the ones they love.

Inside the Grey is a whirlwind story of war, friendship, love and, ultimately, the lengths one person will go to for another. This book features a great slow-burn romance, filled with tension and tender moments, but maintains an outstanding balance of anxiety, action and danger as we are taken back to the Civil War. While this book is considered a historical romance, there is plenty of action to keep you on your toes and captivated along the way.

Beyond a Historical Saga

Each character had their own voice and was completely developed, but our main characters stole the show by far.

Brayden, on the surface, seems like your typical brooding frontman on a quest, but he suffers a loss that seems to change him. He is sure to both capture and break your heart. As for our leading lady Kawley, she is full of a feisty energy that drives her to persevere despite her traumatic past. Come hell or high water, she will save her family. Together, these characters have unquestionable chemistry that will lead them to risk it all for love.

Groover wrote this story with such a distinct voice and vivid detail, with equal parts romance and action. Brayden and Kawley, while being flawed people, find family, friendship, love and passion that take the book beyond a historical Civil War saga, into a story that resonates with modern readers. If you love to be taken back in time and led on a page-turning journey, this is sure to be the book for you!
