Your biggest literary influences:

In my youth, I was addicted to Edgar Allen Poe. As an adult, I love many authors such as Steve Martini, Linda Howard, John Grisham, Patricia Cornwell and William Lashner. However, my biggest influence I believe is James Patterson. His stories kept me from going crazy after a hard day’s work. They are fast-paced and filled with mystery and excitement which took me far away from my troubles.

Last book read:

Without Conscience by Robert D. Hare

The book that changed your life:

Illusions by Richard Bach. I was at a crossroads in my life. I had just gotten divorced and left my religion. I literally had to leave my hometown just to get away from my ex-husband. On top of that, leaving the Jehovah’s Witnesses is no easy task. Needless to say, there was a long line of people who were very disappointed with me. Illusions helped me move forward from these very challenging and life-changing events. It gave me courage to stand my ground and embrace my freedom and new life. I used to keep a copy close by for difficult times and ended up giving it away to others for moral support. I must have bought it four times.

Your favorite literary character:

I was really in love with Alex Cross, the character from James Patterson’s series. I guess he’s what every woman dreams of: strong, handsome and able to be ruthless when necessary, and extremely loving. He’s someone who you could trust with your life. He’s not real, but he’s what some of us dream of in a man.

Currently working on:

Moon Garden, fourth book in the Nocturnals series.

Words to live by:

Never give up on your dreams and laugh at least four times a day.

Advice for aspiring authors:

Keep on writing.
