Laughing All The Way To The Bank by Gigi Spacola

Oh, to be young again. I remember all too well that time when I was just graduating from college with the whole world lying open in front of me. Time spent with friends, the stress — and yet thrill — of looking for a job to start my “career” (whatever that meant), and the possibility of finding true love. Stuck in that space between childhood and adulthood. This is exactly where Regina (Gigi) Spacola finds herself in her new book, Laughing All the Way to the Bank (P2P Publishing, LLC).

In life, author Gigi Spacola is a Twitter influencer with close to 100,000 followers, projecting healing and positive vibes through humor. Now moving to the next phase of her career, Gigi has written her first book, one that reflects this same sense of humor, populated with a colorful group of characters based on Gigi herself as well as her friends and family.

WORLD FOR THE TAKING, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE GUY?

Gigi had a happy childhood, growing up surrounded by a large and loving Italian family in East Boston, the youngest of eight and the only girl. You can almost “see” her family gathered around the dinner table or having one of their family-and-friends gatherings out in the backyard. She also has a wonderful and wide group of girlfriends … some from as far back as childhood and others from as recently as college. On top of all that, she’s smart and beautiful and seems to have the world in the palm of her hand.

But Gigi has spent her student years at Boston University staving off her attraction to Jeremy Cotton, the college’s resident “lady’s man.” Jeremy has gone through a long list of Gigi’s girlfriends, breaking their hearts and leaving a trail of tears behind him. Gigi insisted that this would not be her, despite the obvious electricity between them. She was satisfied to “just be friends.” That is, until a drunken one-night stand on their graduation night. But that was just the beginning.

FIFTY SHADES WITH A TOUCH OF PRETTY WOMAN

Laughing All the Way to the Bank has a bit of Fifty Shades of Grey mixed in amid the story of the growing relationship between Gigi and Jeremy, and it is not for the prudes among us. There’s a lot of sex going on! A lot. There is also a touch of Pretty Woman, as Jeremy is a “man of means” and showers Gigi, who comes from more humble beginnings, with designer clothes, jewelry, lingerie, fine food and wine, private jets and all the other things that come with a life of extreme luxury and influence.

The story focuses mainly on the summer after graduation as Gigi starts her first post-graduation job as a saleswoman for QualTel Communications and her relationship with Jeremy heats up. She has to juggle her new adult responsibilities with her budding and intense relationship. The reader shares in the challenging, fun, and sometimes hilarious experiences that Gigi often finds herself in.

CAN A ROMANTIC CONQUEST BECOME A LOVE THAT LASTS?

What may have started as a conquest for Jeremy — and a moment of weakness for Gigi — slowly builds into a serious relationship as the weeks pass. While the sexual attraction is certainly there, can they make a committed relationship work between them? Is this true love?

And what about when Jeremy’s plans for law school and his father get in the way? Jeremy is put into an impossible situation of having to promise his father that he will break up with Gigi in advance of his first semester at Harvard Law. Can Jeremy and Gigi’s relationship survive this four-month hiatus? Will love win out?

We’ll have to wait to see as this is only the beginning of the book series. Look for the continuation of Gigi and Jeremy’s story in Book Two, Our Season of Madness coming this summer. Can’t wait to read it!
