The Holiday Switch by Tif Marcelo

It’s that magical time of year — October — when Christmas starts its convivial seep into our daily lives. Ornaments and pine boughs appear at Target, Hallmark Channel starts teasing their holiday movie line-up, and ambitious decorators string up lights while the weather is still warm (is that only me?). It’s also the time of year when holiday novels decorate bookstore tables for readers to stockpile in anticipation of cozy bookish nights by the light of the Christmas Tree.

For this Yuletide season, Tif Marcelo’s The Holiday Switch (RHC Books) is a must read! It follows Lila Santos who loves working at the gift shop for the local inn where one of her favorite movies was filmed. Her plans to score extra hours during the holiday season are thwarted when Teddy Rivera, the nephew of the inn’s owner, starts working. Instead of earning extra college money, she has to train him on how to do her job. But when they accidentally switch phones, it becomes clear they both have secrets, and they agree to help each other keep it that way.

BRINGING OUT THE BEST IN EACH OTHER

Once they team up, the phrase “I’ve got you” becomes their mantra. Without giving too much away, Lila and Teddy learn to truly see each other, allowing each of them to become the best version of themselves. Isn’t that what we all want with love, someone who will always be there and brings out our best?

The Holiday Switch taps into some of my favorite tropes — holiday romance, forced proximity due to weather, hate to love, romantic moments involving holiday activities like ice skating and sledding, and coming of age. Marcelo makes sure to add modern twists on the familiar ideas, keeping it as fresh as new fallen snow!

Like all things holiday, grab a fuzzy blanket, heat up some hot cocoa, and snuggle in for a sweet and swoony time with The Holiday Switch.
