Today YouTube unveiled a special October episode of BookTube featuring number-one New York Times bestselling author Jason Reynolds in a unique discussion about his book, Stamped: Racism, Antiracism, and You (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers).

The book is a YA treatment of Stamped from the Beginning by Dr. Ibram X. Kendi, a winner of the National Book Award for Nonfiction tracing the history of race and racism in America. With Stamped, Reynolds not only brings Dr. Kendi’s academic research to life for younger readers, but also shines a light on the many insidious forms of racist ideas — and on ways we can identify and stamp out racist thoughts in our daily lives.

Breaking from the show’s usual panel format, the episode features Reynolds responding to dynamic video commentary and questions from popular BookTube and YouTube creators Jesse Bowties of Bowties and Books, Danielle Bainbridge of Origin of Everything, writer/comedian Joanna Hausmann, Kimberly Foster of For Harriet, and Harvard student John Fish. The episode also features a special appearance by Dr. Kendi, who provides insight into how Reynolds became involved with the YA “remix” of his book.

New Fan. Just watched this. Popped up on YouTube. Teach bouncing around Detroit charters. Long-term sub assignments. Less of the bureaucratic garbage, more time for kids and parents. Awesome interview!!! Thanks.
