The book that changed your life:

Emily Climbs by L.M. Montgomery was the first book I read in which a woman struggled to find her way as a writer living in a closed-minded community with an unsupportive family.

Your favorite literary character:

Emily Bryd Starr (Emily Climbs) is my literary heroine because she defied social conventions, family challenges, and self-doubt to successfully pursue her literary dreams.

Testimonials:

“Angela Lam excels at placing people in an immediate social world, showing both their insecurity and their resilience. She explores the boundaries of individual experience, moving along the sometimes blurred, sometimes rough edges, of relationships. The deeper questions of failed relationships haunt this novel.” —Mary Clark, author of Miami Morning

“With a bit of faith, one overworked career woman and housewife has to save the world on top of everything else. Out of Balance is a fun read that will resonate well with many overworked women.” Midwest Book Review

“With fevered descriptions of designer clothes, plenty of Sonoma County references and a funny story that steams along in the swoon of a Jackie Collins boiler, Legs is a hoot that could easily make for a pleasant hour’s read at the beach.” —Gretchen Giles, The Bohemian magazine
