I adored this book. Paul Strom is the most chilling, and most fun protagonist I’ve encountered since Joe Goldberg. Paul was charming, interesting, and propulsive — I had to keep reading to know where this was headed next.
The structure was perfect — like a ticking clock in the background. You knew you’d find out the resolution before the day was done, and each hour was told with a sufficient amount of flashback to understand the story of Paul and Mia’s “perfect” marriage. There is just enough tension to keep you buzzing, and the reader just a touch uncomfortable. You constantly have to ask yourself, what’s going to happen now? And sometimes, it would be nothing! The chapter would end. Each chapter had a built in twist that truly kept the reader in breathless suspense.
Best Day Ever is definitely the kind of book you read twice: once you know the secret, it’s never the same reading experience!
