You may know Marcus Wicker from his other book of poetry, Maybe the Saddest Thing. He has collected many awards over the years, including a Ruth Lilly Fellowship, Pushcart Prize, fellowships from Cave Canem, The Fine Arts Work Center, and more. Then, in the second episode we are featuring this week, catch Sean Tuohy as he sits down for an interview with the beloved Sam Lightner Jr. Lightner comes to the show to discuss his novel, Heavy Green: The Collision of two Unlikely Missions in America’s Secret War. He talks to Tuohy about how a rock-climbing expedition actually led him to write fiction. Lightner has been traveling and writing across the world since his first expedition and you can see this in his writing, which takes on themes of the outdoors and climbing – though he also prefers to write about history, his favorite subject.
