Vampires in young adult novels have been “over” for a while now. It used to be impossible to enter a bookstore without seeing dozens of stories about young girls falling in love with those immortal bloodsuckers. And it wasn’t just vampires. There were werewolves, angels, ghosts, demons—for a few years, the paranormal world was a hot commodity in young adult fiction. But then came the rise of The Hunger Games and the dystopian novel.
