Glee’s Chris Colfer Signs Deal with Little, Brown for Continuation of ‘Land of Stories’

Actor, singer, and writer, Chris Colfer is a man of many talents. In addition to his 2011 Golden Globe win for his performance as Kurt Hummel on Glee, he is also the author of the children’s book series, Land of Stories, where twins Alex and Conner magically travel into the stories of the books they’ve been reading, and find themselves in the company of the fairy-tale characters. While the series seemed to have ended this past year, with Land of Stories: Worlds Collide, it’s just been announced that Colfer has signed a book deal with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers to write not only two new books for Land of Stories, but also an insider’s guide! Smart Reads: 3 Books for Banned Books Week

We’re closing out Banned Books Week (September 27-October 3) by honoring three of the most challenged and banned books in 2014 as this week’s Smart Reads. Even though our right to read anything we like is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the American Constitution, there have always been members of the community who take exception to the content of certain books. Reasons for banning books have varied. Most frequently cited are offensive language, sexually explicit content, violence, controversial issues (a highly subjective term) and being unsuitable for its targeted age group.
