Game of Thrones Fans Could Get Two New Reads in 2018

in Fiction by

Game of Thrones fans rejoice! Well, maybe. Last month, George R. R. Martin announced that even though he’s still “months away” from finishing the 6th book in his epic fantasy series, it looks like it might finally be hitting shelves in 2018. In a blog post on July 22nd, Martin wrote, “I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018… and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream…” We’d pretty much die on the spot if we got two new Song of Ice and Fire novels in a year, but at this point we’d be more than happy with just one. It’s been 6 years since we’ve read a new Westeros novel, and we’re clamoring…

Video: 4 Important Predictions from the Game of Thrones Season 6 Trailer

in Fiction by

OK, it’s time to stop hyperventilating. At long last, HBO has dropped the Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer. With the show being essentially caught up to George R.R. Martin’s books, and no press receiving episodes to review ahead of the rest of us, all fans are equally in the dark about what twists and turns this new season holds. Well, most fans are in the dark, except for those of us with foil helmets on our heads, life-size replicas of the Iron Throne in our mom’s basement, and fan theories stronger than valyrian steel to keep us company. Last year we treated our readers (and let’s be honest, ourselves) to a little present—the killer abs of the 10 hottest men of 2014. We’ve been pretty guilty of turning up the temperature a bit lately with “Olicity” Watch, Battle ‘Ships (can we blame Rachel Carter for global warming?) and of course, Heat Index. So why stop there? To help keep the roads free of ice over the holidays, we present our second annual Abs as Flat as a Book: the hottest men of 2015. Consider it a present AND a public service. Happy Holidays – You’re welcome! Adam Driver Intergalactic bad boy Adam Driver wowed us in Star Wars VIII. Not only is he easy on the eyes, but…

Game of Thrones Season 5 finale: Mother have mercy!

in Fiction by

Beware: If you have not seen Season 5 of Game of Thrones in its entirety, or if you have not read all five books of the A Song of Ice and Fire series, tread lightly. This is a spoiler heavy zone. You have been warned. Save your caps lock of outrage for someone who has not been tormented with the knowledge of what could and should have been. Mother have mercy – because Benioff and Weiss surely did not. Season 5 of Game of Thrones has taken viewers, and more importantly book readers, for a ride. When this season started, the devoted knew that we were headed into uncharted territory. While the supposedly non-canon plot lines tore at this Bookish…

Game of Thrones fans know less than Jon Snow

in Fiction by

In this world, you are either one of us or one of them—one of us being a fan of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire and the HBO series born of that called Game of Thrones. And if you are a fan, you already know where this is headed. A wise Bookish Diva might have said (or screamed) that she has no words for what is happening on Game of Thrones and neither did George because he didn’t write them.  It has been days since the most recent episode of Game of Thrones aired. However, I am no Spoiler Sue. All you will get here is a fan’s frustrations, hopes, dreams and nightmares. For those that have…
