Books:

Assumed (December 2, 2022)

Your biggest literary influences:

I have eclectic tastes, and I’ll read just about anything, but authors with the most impact include
James Joyce, Zadie Smith and Thomas Pynchon.

What readers will take away from your books:

The series is pure escapism. I hope readers enjoy the tropical setting and the complicated
friendship between Anne and Sandy.

What is your ideal target audience?

Anyone that enjoys a bit of suspense!

If you had to describe your book as a cross between two well-known books, what would you say?

Gone Girl meets The Bourne Identity.

The book that changed your life:

Ulysses. I took a class to study Joyce in college, and that was when I decided I wanted to be a
writer. I was such a terrible writer back then. I guess I needed some life experience and about
thirty years of practice before I considered myself an actual writer.

Tell us about the protagonist in your latest book, and who would play her or him if they made a movie out of your book?

Anne Wilson is strong and independent. At a young age, she suffered a traumatic loss that
prevented her from forming friendships. I think Mackenzie Foy would play a fabulous Anne Wilson if the series is adapted to film.

If your protagonist could befriend any character from literature, who would he or she choose?

I think Anne would befriend Nancy Drew because she sees herself as a bit of an amateur sleuth.

If you could write a retelling of any book and put your own spin on it, which book would you choose and why?

I’ve always wondered what Watership Down would be like with different animals. Rabbits can be adorable, but I think it’s easier to see their dark side than something more fluffy like a red panda or a chinchilla. Maybe penguins. Penguins don’t have a dark side. Can you imagine Watership Down reimagined with penguins?

Your favorite literary character:

An apprenticeship with Sherlock Holmes is on my bucket list. I adore most detectives, and I love
mysteries, but Sherlock has this amazing way of reading people. I’d love to have a fraction of his
powers of observation.

Testimonials

This book is a mystery/thriller reader’s best friend. I absolutely LOVED this book! This book sucks you in and keeps you guessing for the entire 292 pages. It had a perfect amount of plot twists and shocking reveals that didn’t confuse you, but instead made you gasp out loud and set down the book for a couple minutes. Every time you think you know something—you don’t lol. The PERFECT thriller—I wish I could read this book for the first time again. 10/10 recommend this to EVERYONE!
