About Maryl Damian

Maryl was born the oldest of five children in an Italian-American family in 1946. As a child, she always thought that she would write a novel. In college, she started out as an art student but eventually got a job, which she loved, at a local community college as an English tutor.

During this time, Maryl and her husband had three children and built their home. She also started writing, but was working in a vacuum, so she didn’t yet know if what she had written was any good. Eventually, she joined a writers’ group, which was a tremendous help. This gave her the courage to start sending her manuscripts out to romance writing contests. She won third prize in a national romance writers contest and got a lot of positive feedback from judges.

From this, Maryl gained the confidence to put her novels Legacy of Love and Nikolai, my love on Amazon, both in paperback and on kindle. She is currently working on her third novel, Glimmerglass Autumn, and is hoping to bring her books to a wider range of romance readers.

In retirement, Maryl and her husband love spending time with their grown children and seven precious grandchildren. She also enjoys spending time knitting, reading and caring for her numerous flower gardens.

Book that changed your life: 

A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose by Eckhart Tolle. This book changed my life by helping me to understand my place in the world and my relationship with others.

Your favorite literary character: 

Jane Eyre is a literary character who influenced me. Her strong moral courage allowed her, penniless, to leave the only home she had ever known and the man she loved in order to live by her moral code.

What are you working on currently: 

I am currently working on my third romance novel, Glimmerglass Autumn.
