About John Peter Fer

John Peter Fer was born at the Air Force Academy in Colorado and spent his childhood moving between bases. He graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1998 and then served for five years as a missileer. In 2004, he joined the Peace Corps, where he served in Nepal until a civil war brought an abrupt end to his service. He returned to teach eighth grade in Los Angeles (but only lasted a year!), and then he worked as a Workforce Development instructor via a partnership between L.A. County and the Service Employees International Union. In 2007, he became a firefighter in Montgomery County, MD, and served until 2009 when he joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer. He’s served in New Delhi, India, Managua, Nicaragua, Moscow, Russia, Riga, Latvia, and Washington, DC.  He is currently the Information Officer in Tbilisi, Georgia. He and his wife have two sons.
