The Road King Chronicles: Blue Ridge Run

by Harry Harrigan

GENRE: Adventure Mystery
PUBLICATION DATE: 03/01/2015
DESCRIPTION:

Master Sergeant Roman Keane is six hours and one last salute from retirement. After twenty-three years and three combat tours with the 75th Ranger Regiment, he’s got a Silver Star, a titanium knee and a plan to see America on his Road King motorcycle. No more patrols, no more firefights. Nothing more dangerous than passing the old work van rumbling along in front of him as he rides toward Hunter-Stewart and the sunset of his career in the Army.

But just as he twists the throttle to pass, a woman’s bare foot smears a bloody print on the van’s back window. Roman turns back to help, triggering a chain of events that puts his brother Virgil and two old friends in the crosshairs of a murderer. Saving them sends Roman on a desperate ride from Savannah to DC, where he discovers that the past he has been trying to forget has not forgotten him. It’s been waiting patiently, holding his secret like a time bomb.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

To write inventive mysteries that are authentic and believable, you need two things: a fertile imagination and lots of interesting personal experiences. Harry Harrigan has plenty of both. In a service career that included both the US Army and the NOAA Commissioned Corps, Harry’s been an artillery officer, ranger, helicopter pilot, ship’s officer, marine sanctuary manager and head of NOAA’s special operations. Since retiring from the service, Harry has been an underwater photographer, marine park consultant and writer. In addition to many stateside postings, he has lived in Australia and Europe, and his work underwater has taken him throughout the Caribbean and Pacific.

Since motorcycling is the background for the Road King Chronicles stories, naturally Harry’s an avid motorcycle rider. He’s ridden the country east-to-west and north-to-south, several times in each direction. But while the characters in Harry’s books like to ride, the stories are about the characters, not the bikes.

REVIEWS:

What a ride!! I haven't been this glued to a book in years and really couldn't put it down.

Road King, the main character in this fast moving adventure, accumulates a very likable troupe of side-kicks to join this unfolding plot of one thing leads to another. It twists and turns just like a run on the Blue Ridge Parkway and is full of surprises at every bend in the road.

I sincerely hope Harry Harrigan continues this series - I can hardly wait for the next one (after the second one that I already have on order).

Read it, you'll love it. Lynn Mckarny, Amazon

H H really swings a mean tale. He kept a complicated cast of great characters moving at a 100 mph to a climatic finish that really satisfies. He or his staff really know their guns and their bikes and it lends authenticity to the story. It also makes me want to ride the Blue Ridge and see Savannah, Ga. Great job, and keep them coming.
