Now that summer is in full swing, so is wedding season. You can’t even open up Facebook these days without getting bombarded by pictures of white dresses and perfectly tiered cakes. Well—maybe not totally perfect. Because why would you pick a traditional wedding cake when you can have one with golden snitches or Hobbits hanging out in the Shire? Maybe we’re just a little nerdy here at BookTrib (OK, a lot nerdy), but we all agree that wedding cakes are infinitely better when they’re book themed.
Don’t believe us? Here are 10 awesome literary wedding cakes that just might change your mind:
1. Jane Austen
The classiest lady in history certainly deserves a classy cake. Love how this includes quotes from her novels and awesome hand-drawn pictures that perfectly represent one of the greatest authors of all time.
2. Geek Cake
This couple certainly knows the way to our hearts – through geek-inspired desserts. This cake may not have one central theme, but what a great way to encompass some of the best stories around.
From the Iron Throne to the dragon scales to the map of Westeros on the bottom, this cake is oozing with Game of Thrones mythology. It almost makes us forget about the Red Wedding…
Oh Holy God.
4. Harry Potter
Love how subtle this cake is, just a few touches of color and the golden snitches flying along the tiers.
5. Hunger Games
How awesome is the Mockingjay symbol here? Man, I hope my future husband lets me have a cake like this. Beautiful and geeky-cool.
6. Twilight
This Twilight cake is pretty subjective – only the apple on top and the creepy tree branches remind us of our favorite teen vampire story. But its light narrative touch just makes it all the more lovely.
There are so many great Alice in Wonderland cakes out there but this has to be one of the best. The green leaves! The crown poking out! The half-painted roses! Love, love, love!
8. The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
What a cool theme for a winter wedding – you can dress like the White Witch and load the place up with snowflakes and Turkish delight. This cake is lovely, too, especially with the bride and groom kissing under the lamppost.
If I ever have a Lord of the Rings wedding, I want a Shire cake just like this one. Who cares about the elves or Rivendell? The homey, warm and earthy Shire is the best (and so perfectly captured here!)
10. Batman
Okay, so technically Batman is from a comic book, but whatever! It’s still literary! Also, look at that cake. A superhero masquerading as a wedding cake. It doesn’t get any cooler than that.
Let us know what your favorite cake is in the comments. And don’t be afraid to choose a book-themed cake for your own wedding. After all, it’s your special day. Why not geek out as much as possible?
