And Now, Back to You by B.K. Borison
And Now, Back to You is B.K. Borison’s latest contemporary romance, delivering a cozy romcom that had me smiling from ear to ear!
This is the latest in the Heartstrings series of interconnected standalone romances. The 1st book—First-Time Caller—was inspired by Sleepless in Seattle. Adorable and filled with charisma, I highly recommend checking it out, but you can absolutely jump right into And Now, Back to You without missing a beat.
Grumpy Meets Sunshine at the Weather Desk
In her latest offering, Borison gives us a When Harry Met Sally-inspired book that took all of two pages to charm me. We open with our MMC—Jackson—wrangling his teenage twin sisters, whom he fought for guardianship over. It was immediately clear this would be as banter-filled as her prior book.
A tired lover of baked goods and radio meteorologist who cares deeply about giving his sisters a better life than his mother gave him, Jackson is the grumpy book boyfriend of a romance reader’s dreams. Everything annoys him, but it’s clear he likes to be annoyed—by his sisters and the chaotic weatherwoman next door.
Speaking of the woman next door, Delilah works at the neighboring TV station as the on-air meteorologist and reluctant features reporter. She’s a serious weatherwoman who has been marked as the quirky features reporter by her horrible boss—à la Bridget Jones sliding down the fireman’s pole in the first movie. She is always stuck in a ridiculous costume, reporting on local events like the newest turtle at the city zoo. Her sunshiny and possibly people-pleasing mentality has her showing up with a smile regardless of how absurd she feels.
Jackson’s twin sisters are big fans of Delilah, but she’s a bit of a nightmare for Jackson—always making a mess of his things when they interact. All of their run-ins seem to result in Jackson being covered in food. After an accidental collision leaving Jackson covered in coffee and Delilah lying prone in a turtle costume, the sparks flew off the page. Even in their disdain, the chemistry was clear.
Forced Proximity with a 100% Chance of Sparks
The story takes them on a joint assignment to cover the biggest snowstorm in a hundred years, which is reluctantly agreed upon. These two may have a love of meteorology in common, but their personalities couldn’t be more different. He’s the rigid grump to her free-spirited sunshine. Sprinkle in a remote location with forced proximity, and I’m hooked.
One of the unique features of this series is the in-between chapter clips from the main characters’ broadcasts. They give little peaks into what’s going on while leaving the reader guessing as to how their love story may be progressing. While I eyeball-read this one, I know from my past listening of First-Time Caller that these offered little pops of intrigue that took the audiobook to the next level.
This book is filled with banter reminiscent of a 90’s romcom that sparks endless joy in my millennial heart. Borison’s writing has a lightness to it that skips along, keeping the reader in a perpetual state of happiness, like listening to a favorite pop song on repeat.
About B.K. Borison:
B.K. Borison is the author of cozy contemporary romances featuring emotionally vulnerable characters and swoonworthy settings. When she’s not daydreaming about fictional characters doing fictional things, she’s at home with her family, more than likely buying books she doesn’t have room for.
