A Meticulous Plan by A Mohit

"With depictions of various languages, cultures, local landscapes, cuisines and architecture, the novel’s vivid scenery provides readers with an immersive experience. "

“Was this not an ancient tale older than time itself? Once more, a new saga would begin. Once more, a man and a woman would fall in love.”

Two families unite in matrimony, defying centuries-old cultural, physical and religious boundaries in A Meticulous Plan by A Mohit. When Pooja Roy Chowdhury and Bakhtiar Khan move to the United States of America to start their lives together, fate is set into motion. Upon the birth of their son, Satya, they face new challenges as he grows. Their star-crossed love leads to personal, political and social upheaval decades later, as their son follows his heart in Bangladesh amidst changing tides of the 2024 Color Revolution. Combining real political events with a fiery, passionate love story, A Meticulous Plan is an enthralling work of historical romance.

A Love That Defied Borders, Faith, and Fate

In Bangkok, strangers’ eyes meet across a hotel restaurant, and the ripple of their love is felt far into the future. Theirs is a love story that will challenge everything they know, take them across an ocean, and fill their lives with a mix of love and strife. Pooja Roy Chowdhury and Bakhtiar Khan meet in a fated encounter, though they come from two different backgrounds — Pooja is Hindu, while Bakhtiar is Muslim. Their love is star-crossed, with disapproving families to win over before they can build their lives together.

After “the couple was twice wedded in two cultures of two different faiths, in two countries,” their lives began. Until, a deadly incident in 2002 led to strikes, deaths and brutal attacks, and a deadly rift grew between Hindu and Muslim community members. Familial affection, heartbreak and grief swirl as tensions rise in their communities and the loss of a matriarch causes a rift.

But there’s a bright spot on the horizon — now in Florida, Pooja is pregnant with her and Bakhtiar’s first child. With Satya’s birth comes a new chapter. Raising the child prodigy is an arduous task, like raising any child, and by the time he is a young man, he takes flight. With an inquisitive mind, a loyalty to his name’s meaning — “Truth” — and a determination to do right, he denies what the United States offers him and returns to Bangladesh.

Amidst family in his ancestral home, Satya pursues his dream of establishing Shanti Kunja, a charitable home for the elderly and school for underserved children. Will he succeed in making his dreams come true? Or will the rising tide of the 2024 Color Revolution get in the way of his plans, just as the disastrous events of 2002 interfered with the lives of his parents? Maybe, he will realize that love is the thing that can spur him forward, into the future he desires — especially after he meets Aratrika.

A Story That Spans Generations and Revolutions

Balancing the grim with the lighthearted, A Mohit paints a portrait of lovers facing disastrous political turmoil. Generations before them had already lived through war and shifting social climates, their lives torn apart by events out of their control. So, it’s only fitting that A Meticulous Plan is “dedicated to all those uprooted from their homes and forced to shelter in foreign countries.” The novel depicts the real effects of a family affected by political strife across generations, and opens readers’ eyes to the possibility of love and tolerance in the face of violence and opposition.

With depictions of various languages, cultures, local landscapes, cuisines and architecture, the novel’s vivid scenery provides readers with an immersive experience. By weaving two love stories from two different generations, facing similar struggles, A Mohit has written a book for historical fact fanatics and swoony romance readers alike. His novel is entertaining, meticulously crafted, and well worth the read.

About A Mohit:

A Mohit is an author whose work explores the complexities of faith, human conflict, and gender inequality. Growing up in a multilingual, multicultural society in India, he witnessed firsthand the tensions that shape societies—experiences that deeply influence his writing. His first book, One God in You and Me, examines the damage caused in the name of religion, encouraging readers to question their beliefs and the world around them. The success of this thought-provoking work led to For Our Daughters, a powerful critique of the systemic exploitation of women across cultural and religious boundaries.

Mohit later turned to fiction with Never Had a Chance to Say Goodbye, a novel that weaves themes of love, identity, and destiny across borders. An engineer by profession, Mohit lives in Northwest Indiana with his wife and daughter. Through his writing, he continues to challenge societal norms and seek deeper truths about humanity.
