36 Major Literary Voices, Edited by Atwood and Preston, Produce “Fourteen Days”

The iconic Margaret Atwood and American author Doug Preston have spearheaded a unique, collaborative novel featuring 36 noted authors of The Authors Guild. Each author contributes by creating and writing about one character living in Fernsby Arms, a building left behind by neighborhood gentrification and wealthier New Yorkers fleeing the COVID pandemic. The bored, working-class residents have little to do with each other — until one by one, they begin to illegally gather on top of the building. Perched high above a city that has abandoned them, they convene to watch the sunset, cheer for healthcare workers, and share stories about their lives. As Fourteen Days unfolds, the lonely, wary and sometimes contentious neighbors begin to band together, creating a found family to weather the storm.

Amy Adams and Jenna Ortega To Star in “Klara and the Sun” Adaptation

Amy Adams is in negotiations to co-star alongside Jenna Ortega in the upcoming adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s New York Times bestselling novel, Klara and the Sun. Taika Waititi is set to direct and produce alongside producers David Heyman and Garrett Basch, with Ishiguro as an executive producer.

Klara and the Sun tells the story of Klara (Ortega), an Artificial Friend designed to prevent loneliness. Klara is purchased by a mother (Adams) and a bright teen named Josie who adores her new robot companion but suffers from a mysterious illness. The story tells of Klara’s quest to save Josie and those who love her from heartbreak, and how in the process Klara learns the power of human love.

Popular Fanfic Author of “Manacled” Is Getting Traditionally Published with Debut, “Alchemised”

Popular fanfic writer Senlinyu has signed a deal with Del Rey and Michael Joseph to publish her debut novel, Alchemised. This standalone dark fantasy set in a war-torn world of necromancy and alchemy follows a healer with amnesia who is taken as a prisoner of war and must fight to protect her lost memories and the secrets hidden among them.

The novel will be a reimagining of Senlinyu’s Manacled, a Harry Potter fan-fiction that brought her to international prominence on Archive of Our Own (AO3). Her collected online works have garnered nearly 16 million individual downloads and have been translated into 19 languages. Suffice to say, many are already lining up for a copy.

Hallmark Debuts Jane Austen-Inspired Films

This February, or “Loveuary,” as they are calling it, the Hallmark Channel will debut a quartet of new films inspired by the creativity and fandom of Regency-era novelist Jane Austen. The first three films — Paging Mr. DarcyLove & Jane, and An American in Austen — center on contemporary women finding love in connection with their favorite writer. The fourth and final film in the Hallmark “Loveuary with Jane Austen” lineup is a first for the channel: a diverse, full-on period drama based on Austen’s first published novel, Sense and Sensibility, complete with lavish ballgowns and Regency-appropriate manners.
