If you saw last year’s roundup of the top beach read in each US state, you’re probably eagerly anticipating this year’s stats. Luckily, ShaneCo, a jewelry company that also features lifestyle information, has conducted another study on each US state’s favorite beach read for 2023.

After collecting a list of 89 popular books from Barnes and Noble’s list of the best beach reads for 2023, ShaneCo analyzed the regional interest of the books on the list using Google Trends search data over the past year. With that, they used the data to find the most popular beach read in every state this year.

The data has proven that romance is the most beloved genre for beach reading, with this year’s chart topped with titles from authors like Emily Henry, Tessa Bailey, Ali Hazelwood, Casey McQuiston, Lucy Score and Elena Armas. Screen adaptations of two beloved romance novels — Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Pretty and Casey McQuiston’s Red, White and Royal Blue — have contributed to these fan-favorite titles’ multiple appearances on this year’s list.

After completing their study, ShaneCo released this graphic of the most commonly sought-out reads in each U.S. State. Take a look to see what your state’s favorite beach read of 2023 is!
