Goodbye Poop by Clay Robinson

What's It About?

This humorous take on Goodbye Moon will definitely make you laugh through the potty training process.

Potty training is an important milestone, but every parent dreads it — because yes, messes do happen. Accidents can be embarrassing, especially if you’re caught off-guard in a public place.

However, potty training is an essential part of growing up. So, where do you begin when there are so many tips, tricks and techniques on the Internet?

For parents who are getting ready to potty train their young’uns, Goodbye Poop by Clay Robinson is a good place to start!

Starting the Potty Training Journey

As a first-time mom of a 19-month-old, I have found myself overwhelmed with advice on the matter.

For some moms, 19 months may sound a little early, but I can see my little girl is ready to be rid of the diaper. The problem is: Where to start?

Walk into any baby store and there are so many potty options! There are potties shaped like toilets, potties that look like bowls, ones that sing and ones that give treats. There are chamber pot potties and potties that neatly transform the metaphorical throne into something more toddler accessible. So many options, but which one is the right one?

Toilet Humour at its Finest

What’s better than a bit of toilet humour when it comes to bathroom activities? Goodbye Poop is a humorous take on Goodbye Moon, the children’s classic by Margaret Wise Brown, with some tongue-in-cheek humour added in for parents.

While my little one didn’t quite understand the humour in the book, she did enjoy pointing out the objects in the clear illustrations. What’s more, reading this book with her simply made it clear that she’s ready to get rid of her diapers!

Remember the Whole Purpose

With Goodbye Poop, I was reminded that when it comes to kids, things don’t need to be so serious. Yes, potty training is a milestone, and yes this is a terrible reminder that my little girl won’t stay little forever. Having fun, however, is more important, and Goodbye Poop definitely brought some laughter and fun back into this nervous mommy’s life.

All in all, Goodbye Poop is a good first step to take for young parents, especially fathers, who’d enjoy a good laugh when it comes to instilling proper bathroom behaviour in their kids.

When she’s not playing referee to her imaginary friends or trying to overdose on caffeine, she’s doing something with words—be it writing, reading, or editing.
