Continuing our books-to-screen news, Deadline reported that bestselling young adult author E. Lockhart has a whopping 3 novels being adapted for the small screen. We Were Liars, Family of Liars, and Again Again will soon become television series. Disney+ is also working on a television adaptation of the Eragon book series, written by Christopher Paolini, Variety reported. Ooh, we can’t wait!

Last, but certainly not least, if you’re in need of a vacation, then author Gillian Flynn has got you covered. She took to Twitter over the weekend to invite readers on a cruise celebrating the 10th anniversary of her blockbuster novel, Gone Girl!

AWARDS AND ACCOLADES WORTHY OF NOTE

The longlist for the Booker Prize has been announced! 20-year-old Leila Mottley became the youngest author ever nominated for the prestigious U.K. literary award with her debut novel, Nightcrawling. While the Booker Prize Foundation also nominated its oldest-ever author. Alan Garner, 87, made the list for Treacle Walker. Other notable names on the longlist include NoViolet Bulawayo for Glory, Shehan Karunatilaka for The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, Claire Keegan for Small Things Like These, Audrey Magee for The Colony, and Graeme Macrae Burnet for Case Study. Congratulations and good luck to all these authors!

MORE BOOKS THE MEDIA’S BUZZING ABOUT

Michelle Obama’s next book, The Light We Carry: Overcoming in Uncertain Times, will hit bookstore shelves this fall! According to Crown, an imprint from Penguin Random House, the book shares practical wisdom and powerful strategies for staying hopeful and balanced in today’s highly uncertain world.

British mystery writer Richard Osman, best known for his bestselling Thursday Murder Club books, told BBC News that he’s writing a new novel, the first of a planned series, that’s partially inspired by Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

According to Associated Press, former Vice President Mike Pence’s controversial memoir, So Help Me God, will be published on November 15, 2022.

Author Blake Bailey, whose 2021 biography of Philip Roth was taken out of print by W.W. Norton after he was accused by multiple women of sexual assault, is writing a memoir about his fall from grace. The memoir, titled Repellent: Philip Roth, #MeToo, and Me, will be published by Skyhorse in 2023 according to a webpage for the book.
