BOOKS:

Hate’s Recompense (2019)

Your biggest literary influences:

Frank Herbert, John Steinbeck, J. R. R. Tolkien, Carlos Castaneda, Victor Hugo

Last book read:

The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge by Carlos Castaneda

The book that changed your life:

Dune by Frank Herbert. Herbert’s cast of characters, and echelons of social, political and religious orders was mind blowing for me. His concept of the Bene Gesserit, the Truth Sayers, is a critical model for the second book of my Athena Series in which my AI based overseer, Athena, must decipher the truth amidst a sea of misinformation. I am in awe of Herbert’s creativity and understanding of the levels of deceit and malevolence to which humans can succumb to control one another.

Your favorite literary character:

Eponine from Les Misérables. While there are many extraordinary characters in this magnificent novel by Victor Hugo, Eponine is so tragic and heroic that I find her irresistible and unforgettable. Trapped in her dream to walk in love with Marius, she suffers unfathomable pain and ultimately gives her life to save him.

Currently working on:

Hate’s Resurrection: The Order of Athena, book two of the Athena Series. After Athena saves the nation from civil war and genocide in book one and is adopted by the people to oversee the country, she requires vast changes in lifestyles that test the foundations of people’s belief systems. The clash between individual rights versus the greater good turns into another war and Athena is destroyed. The nation once again hovers on destruction as pandemics and famine ravage the land. The Righteous who brought down Athena turn to feeding off their fellow citizens to survive. Former Athenians must battle the Righteous to demonstrate the absolute necessity to rebuild Athena to salvage life on earth.

Words to live by:

“Seek and see all the marvels around you. You will get tired of looking at yourself alone, and that fatigue will make you deaf and blind to everything else.”
― Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge

Advice for aspiring authors:

“For me, there is only the traveling on paths that have heart, on any path that may have heart, and the only worthwhile challenge is to traverse its full length — and there I travel, looking, looking breathlessly.”
― Carlos Castaneda, The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge

Testimonials:

“Can a machine, an Artificial Intelligence, heal the deep divide in society? Is a machine trustworthy? Where is the judgment, and who can be trusted?”
―Meri Blankenship, Goodreads

“This AI Political thriller has a great cast of characters that bring this possible future world to life. You’ll love it.”
— Joanne Chase, Goodreads

“Suspend disbelief and travel to an America involved in a civil war and hatching a secret cyber program to unite the people ― or is it to control the people? Can this really unite people or should it be stopped and the evil ones brought to justice? Will machines just control everyone’s life? You need to read this to see. Five stars!”
