Specializing in marketing, writing, and career and education consulting, Miss OMG devours every opportunity to express her love for food and wine by day, and is a Northern California chicken farmer by night. Between being the mother of two crazy boys, while married to the yin to her yang, (and working as an elementary school teacher and principal for many years), Miss OMG has experienced more hysterical life episodes that she’ll ever be able to write about — but she’s determined to try! The author of five books and counting, you can often find this forever foodie/winer writing about her latest family, or fun-filled farming, adventures at: https://bit.ly/MissOMG. Read our review of her latest, Surviving the Holidays (Hell-i-Daze), here.

Your biggest literary influences:

Erma Bombeck.

Erma Bombeck.

Erma Bombeck.

(and Sophie Kinsella, Amy Poeller, Tina Fey and Janet Evanovich)

Last book read:

Who has time to read when you are marketing a book?  LOL! 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss.

The book that changed your life:

The Grass is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank by Erma Bombeck changed my life when I snuck if from my mother’s bookshelf at 10 years of age. I wanted to discover for myself what was making my mother smile and laugh out loud as she read. I never knew books could be so funny! It was the first time I had ever connected with an author, because Erma Bombeck wrote how I thought. We shared a snarky view of life’s common-day mishaps, and she blazed the path for us tell our tales of life’s crazy chaos for others to relate.

Currently working on:

I have three new MissOMG books on the horizon. That said, I am in that agonizing limbo of picking which one to be my next project. It’s like picking a favorite child — it makes me feel guilty to select one over the others, because of all the attention it will get (even though they are all my favorites): Surviving the Empty (Cuckoo’s) Nest, Surviving Life on the Funny Farm, and Surviving Life’s Loony Adventures (working title).

Words to live by:

“You can either find the bright sides to the bullcrap in life, or at least find the funny $#!+” or “Better to see it and laugh, than step in it.”

Advice for aspiring authors:

As a writing coach, I share with my budding authors that they need to sit down and just do it. Set aside some time each day, even if you start out with short increments, and dedicate yourself to the process of putting those words on paper.
