Biggest literary influencers:

Bernard Cornwell, Tracy Cevalier, James Clavell and Ian Fleming to name a few.

Last book read:

The Wicker King by K. Ancrum

The book that changed your life:

Several books changed my life over the years at pivotal times. Nancy Drew, at the age of 7 turned me into an avid reader. Once I started the series I couldn’t stop until I finished. I read The Source by James Michener when I was 22 and I realized that books could impact a belief system and shape a person’s view of the world. Shogun by James Clavell showed me that a sweeping mix of adventure, history, and romance could take a person out of his/her life and expand the world. Most books that I’ve loved, and they’ve been many, stay in my DNA forever.

Your favorite literary character:

My favorite literary character has to be Richard Sharpe. He was an orphan in 18th century England who rises through the ranks in Wellington’s army. He proves in his exploits that a man doesn’t have to be born into the Aristocracy to be a leader. His growth was the beginning of the modern army where advancement relied on aptitude rather than an accident of birth.

Currently working on:

“The Knowing,” which is part of the Bulwark Anthology. Bulwark is a fiction town in Georgia where strange things happen. “The Knowing” is a continuation of minor characters. It has a supernatural edge and will leave the readers questioning everything they think is reality.

Words to live by:

To thy known self be true. It was the lesson I brought my children up on. Whatever they do in life, they are not to lie to themselves.

Advice to new and aspiring authors:

Don’t talk about it, write! Finish your work and then get a good editor. Don’t go into this thinking you’re going to make millions of dollars, and don’t quit your day job.

Articles or reviews:

“Quill says: If you like your thrillers with lots of twists, plenty of “creepy,” some paranormal events, and a fast-moving plot, check out Bulwark. You might just be afraid to turn off the lights after reading the last page.”

– Red Feathered Quill

“Brit Lunden’s paranormal fantasy novella, Bulwark, is genuinely eerie and spooky, filled with the kinds of scary effects that true lovers of the dark crave and rarely find. There are no gushes of blood or other cheap special effects, just a consistently good pulse-pounding story about an ancient evil and the one man who stands up against it. Readers who grew up with the likes of Barker, King and Lovecraft will have a field day reading this classy, dark fantasy novella. And, yes, it’s that good. Lunden’s plot is first-rate and her writing is smooth, assured and polished to a high sheen. Bulwark is most highly recommended.”

“Author Brit Lunden has weaved an entertaining story that spans paranormal, romance, and mystery. Thanks to the splattering of action and the mysterious connection of characters and happenings, this fast paced story is well suited to those looking for a light and enjoyable thrill. The final paragraph offers a clever spine- tingling ending that will leave some with an eerie little smile and others with hairs standing up. Recommended highly for it’s commercial appeal.”
