Hurricane Harvey was the strongest storm to make landfall in the United States since Charley in 2004. On a very special episode of Just the Right Book Podcast, we speak to two independent bookstores in Houston impacted by the storm – Murder By the Book and Brazos Bookstore.
McKenna Jordan of Murder By The Book and Benjamin Rybeck of Brazos Bookstore tell Roxanne how they are recovering and lending aid in the after-math of Harvey. “They need to come in and get that semblance of normalcy…come to their favorite bookstore and get a new book to read as a distraction,” McKenna has told of her customers. The bookstores are making a difference in these harrowing times by offering coffee and refreshments and a place for the community to come together during a disaster such as this.
Of course, Roxanne Coady also takes a look at some special books from some of your favorite authors as well. She also speaks to Benjamin Rybeck and McKenna Jordan about the store’s beginnings and where they are today. She also speaks about BarkBox, who has sponsored this latest episode. She has some fun information to share with listeners who have pups at home, keeping amazing books in mind. This week’s podcast is not one you want to miss!
