Martha Stewart is headed back to the slammer.
Orange is the New Black, the hit Netflix show created by Jenji Kohan, will return to Netflix on June 12 with all-new episodes. Perhaps the most intriguing addition to this year’s cast is a character inspired by the homemaking maven (via Time).
Kohan won’t say who will play Stewart but we do know the show “took some liberties” with the character in question; for example, she’ll be Southern. TV viewers may recall March Inc.: The Story of Martha Stewart, which debuted in 2003 and saw Cybill Shepherd assume the lead role. Chances are, Shepherd won’t reprise her role for the Netflix original series.
If we’ve forgotten, Stewart was convicted of insider trading in 2004 and was sentenced to a five-month prison sentence. The author of the book that inspired the show, Piper Kerman, said her prison in Danbury, Connecticut was almost Stewart’s home behind bars as well.
