Jane Austen reveals her addiction to reality shows

in Fiction by

It is not often that we have the opportunity to chat with a literary genius, so we leapt at the chance to interview author Jane Austen. As her reality series, The Jane Games, enters Round 2, she took time from her busy schedule to sit down with us and talk about the show. LFW: You are the creator and host of The Jane Games. What was your inspiration? JA: I attended a production of The Complete Works of Shakespeare, Abridged and I thought:  What a charming way for Will’s heroes, maidens and knaves to meet each other. I realized my ladies had never been formally introduced to one another, so I sought the most modern and entertaining way to put…

Webheads favorite kiss revealed — and this week’s episodes

in Fiction by

What makes a great literary web series kiss? What makes us get lightheaded, warms us up, and causes our knees to vicariously buckle? We love how Lizzie Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, Vic Frankenstein and Alice Rackham all initiated their kisses. Kyle Walters, doing double duty as Peter Pan and Sanditon’s Ed Denham, gets bonus points for technique. After all they had fought through, Carmilla and Laura’s kiss was a triumphant declaration that love conquers all. And after 95 episodes of waiting, could anything top Dizzie Day? Here at Webheads, we had a lot of trouble picking our choice for Best Kiss. And judging by how the vote is spread out, you did, too! As we went live, Lizzie and Darcy were…

in Potpourri by

So watching Lit for Webheads  has inspired you and you want to shoot your own literary web series. All a Webhead needs to get started is an idea, a computer and the right production equipment. Since few of us know where to start, we’re here to help! Recently a young producer I know invested in basic equipment. She is just starting out, so a lot of thought and research went into balancing cost with practicality. As inspiration, let’s look at what she uses. To upload HD quality video either directly or indirectly to the internet, and livestream to a tablet, she has a Canon VIXIA HF R52, with an added camera pan table. It also has a removable data card…

in Fiction by

Webheads works tirelessly to keep you up on the best in literary web series. But where do we feed our addiction? Meet the LBD Care Center. We talked to the resident director about its beginnings, and how it has come to be an indispensable resource for new literary web series. BookTrib: So, what is LBD Care Center? LBDCC: During its run, fans of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries started tweeting that they were addicted to it. I originally created the LBD Care Center as a role play on Twitter. It was an imaginary center for LBD addiction, where people could gather,  be taken care of, and continue the LBD adventure. (The center has even opened branches in Sanditon and in Neverland.) I…
