People who love books always claim they are the easiest people to buy for. But what about when you want something a little bit more special? Something with a bit more pizzazz or bling? Here are a few non-book gift ideas for book lovers:

Vintage book locket charms. If there’s something sweeter than these necklaces of classic books, we don’t know what it is.  There’s Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, The Secret Garden, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Jungle Book and A Little Princess.  And Etsy stores are so packed with unique, handmade gifts — there’s a treasure trove there, but too many to browse if you’re in a hurry; so just trust us, these are the cutest.

Shakespeare t-shirt. There is no shortage of t-shirts with book covers transferred onto the front, and while those are certainly perfectly fine, we tend to fall in love with designs that are little more artful. This one is perfect for any friend who loves Shakespeare, struggles with writing, and tends to swear now and then at their computer. We also have witnessed this exact t-shirt causing the most heated, competitive end to a holiday Yankee Swap we have ever witnessed, so consider yourself forewarned!  It should almost be sold with a caution — buy two, for the first shall surely be stolen!

Sherlock Holmes t-shirt. This one is perfect for any lover of mysteries or awesome design. And it’s so nice it’s also highly stealable — and then you can solve the mystery of who stole it.

Book club socks. There are so many book lovers who are also in book clubs — and so many book clubs that consider themselves lovers of wine as much as books. This gift is ideal for anyone who falls into that category. (And with all the book clubs we’ve visited as authors? We think we might have to buy these in bulk.)

Reading glass necklaces. Some of us have reached that age when reading glasses suddenly need to be in every room, in the car and on the table at restaurants. We think they should drop down from the ceiling like oxygen masks. But barring that, there is another, more stylish solution — reading glass necklaces. Why didn’t we think of that?

Book chocolate-covered Oreos. Want to be teacher’s pet this year with the perfect small choice? Or maybe you have some mom friends in your book club you want to treat? Tuck these delicious beauties into a gift bag.

Book and candle gift box. Sometimes you want to give a friend an experience. And a book lover’s favorite experience, of course, involves a book. This exclusive gift box, featuring a candle based on the characters in the book, a note from the author with a signature cocktail, and other goodies to go with the book, is a perfect solution for anyone who prefers an entertaining night in. Choose from The Simplicity of Cider, Secrets of Worry Dolls, The Distance Home, Where She Went or a two-book “Girls Night In with Bloom” combo box.

Whether you’re buying for a book clubber or a book lover, a rom-com reader or a history fan, you can’t go wrong with a gift that speaks to the heart. The heart that’s filled with books!
